Education and workforce development professionals are no strangers to training programs that emphasize equitable practices. However, few will say that they reviewed disaggregated data that is meaningful to them and reflected on their practices with researchers and peers. In this session, participants will learn how nearly 400 community college instructors reviewed course-level data with researchers and discovered disproportionate student outcomes for themselves. Without being told to “focus on equity,” practitioners did so by seeing inequities in their data and adjusting their practices for culturally diverse populations. The implementation strategies from a professional development program in the southern border region of California (San Diego and Imperial Counties) can be useful to all who are interested in truly addressing diversity, equity, and inclusion in their organizations.
