Within Tax, our Site Selection & Incentives Advisory practice assists companies in assessing and selecting new locations for their operations and negotiating tax and other financial incentives offered by state and local governments in return for business investment initiatives and economic activity. We are currently looking for a Senior Associate level candidate to join our practice.

This position is remote.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Within site selection, working cooperatively with our professionals and clients to develop project parameters, site specifications and key location criteria for a new location.
  • Preparing draft Request for Proposals (RFI’s) to use in the site selection process to solicit suitable sites from state and local communities, monitor RFI process and gather and assess responses.
  • Gathering data from private and public sources and state and local communities to support our cross-location cost modeling, including using subscription data services (i.e.: Lightcast or JObsEQ) to extract key labor metrics.
  • Preparing PowerPoint presentations as needed to support the site selection and incentives process, including project pitches to economic development organizations (EDOs) and the results of Kroll’s location analysis to our client
  • Assist our professionals with creating and executing negotiating strategies on behalf of clients seeking incentives including researching and identifying applicable state and local incentives, estimating incentives values, working with governmental entities and EDO’s to maximize values for our clients, preparing application materials for consideration and monitoring incentives approvals.
  • Assist clients with incentive compliance porting and drawdown of benefits, as needed.
  • Preparing and presenting proposals and qualifications for our professionals to share with prospective clients

Essential traits:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of site selection methods, processes and analysis as well as financial incentives (both statutory and discretionary in nature) available
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience within a consulting or real estate firm, economic development organization or a state tax agency. Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and client relationships skills
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. Writing samples will be requested.
  • Proven dedication to teamwork
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with focus on Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Proven track record relevant to previous work experience
