Function as economic specialist with responsibility for projecting employment trends under the Employment and Training Administration (ETA) Workforce Information Grant (WIG) and the Projections Managing Partnership program (PMP). Primary functions include compilation of economic indicators, analysis of current and future Michigan and regional job trends, development of regression models, analysis of shift-share or time series models, and production and publication of industry and occupational employment projections. This position will represent the bureau to the ETA and the PMP and coordinate bureau activity for annual forecasting conferences. Specialist will also publish independent or collaborative articles or reports contributing to Bureau products, presentations, and publications. Position also requires conducting employment research, maintaining and updating employment databases and spreadsheets, disseminating labor market information, and compiling information on local employment developments.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of economics, labor market structure and conditions, forecasting, research and analysis; graphic, tabular, and narrative techniques for data and information presentation.
Ability to produce clear and accurate written analysis of economic trends
Ability to work independently and set daily priorities.
Ability to communicate effectively and maintain good professional relations.
Knowledge of computer software.
