This training will empower economic and workforce development researchers, analysts, and professionals who want to create basic reports and dashboards with the foundational knowledge of Power BI! Ideal for non-technical users seeking to visualize data and derive insights without advanced technical expertise.
Participants will be guided through understanding the core components of Power BI, navigating the interface, connecting to various data sources, and performing basic data cleaning. Participants will finish equipped to create simple, visually appealing charts and dashboards that transform raw data into actionable insights.

Meet the Instructor:
Andy Blanke, M.P.A.
Research Specialist
Andy Blanke, M.P.A., joined Center for Governmental Studies as a graduate assistant in fall 2011. In 2013, he graduated with a Master of Public Administration degree from Northern Illinois University and became a full-time member of our team as a Research Specialist. Andy specializes in data analysis and has been involved in many statewide data projects, including the DCEO 5-year strategic plan and the Lieutenant Governor’s Task Force on Unfunded Mandates and Government Consolidation. Andy developed several dashboards used by local practitioners across the state, including the Local Government Efficiency Assessment Dashboard and the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Negotiation Tool. He has been published in Community Development and the Illinois Municipal Review.
