Chelsea Walburg began as the Research Manager for the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) in June of 2019. Ms. Walburg has an in-depth understanding of economics and is an expert in labor economic data and analysis. In her position Ms. Walburg is responsible for updating Nevada’s In-Demand Occupations List on an annual basis, quarterly updating and presenting GOED’s internal metrics to the Governor and the GOED Board, presenting economic development and workforce presentations to various groups within the State, and conducting a variety of additional economic analysis.
From February 2015 to June 2019, Ms. Walburg worked as an Economist at the Research and Analysis Bureau within the Nevada Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation (DETR). During the second half of her employment with the Bureau, she supervised and managed the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages unit. Prior to working for DETR, Ms. Walburg worked as a contract employee for the Nevada Division of Insurance reviewing pediatric dental contracts under the Affordable Care Act. Further, for a brief time, she reviewed Medicare Supplement plans submitted to the Division for approval as a permanent employee.
Ms. Walburg earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2013. Additionally, in December of 2018, she obtained a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Leadership and Strategy from Western
Governor’s University.
