The Cost of Living Index (COLI) Q2 2024 report reveals a sharp increase in olive oil prices across the U.S., with cities known for high grocery costs, like those in California and Alaska, seeing prices soar above $10. Even areas with traditionally lower prices, averaging around $8, experienced hikes. Out of 251 places surveyed, only nine saw a decline in prices, as global shortages—primarily driven by Spain’s production drop due to climate change—have led to supply constraints and even olive oil theft.
