Applied Economic and Fiscal Impact Analysis

October 24 – 25, 2024, Arlington, VA

This two-day in-person course builds the technical know-how and analytical capacities that community and economic development researchers need to better understand the consequences of their projects and programs. Participants will use advanced software applications to conduct economic and fiscal impact analyses for a variety of case scenarios, as well as strategies for interpreting results and communicating findings to key decision makers.

Intermediate R Training: Data Science for Workforce and Economic Development Research

October 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, 30, 2024

Researchers are increasingly needing data science skills. In this online skill-building training course, learn intermediate aspects of R, the free modeling program, and how it can enhance your regional and local research methods. This workshop will provide hands-on experience and relevant use cases for analyzing economic and community data.

Basic Labor Market Information (LMI) Analyst Training

October 17 – 18, 2024, Arlington, VA

This in-person course provides novice labor market information (LMI) analysts with an introduction to LMI and basic analytical methods that support state and regional workforce development strategies. Through engaging discussions and hands-on exercises, participants will gain exposure to various workforce, demographic, and economic data sources. They will also apply basic analytical skills to answer real-world questions that policymakers and practitioners encounter in their job.

Interested C2ER members would need to commit to four hours per year – just one meeting per quarter – and have an interest in one of the following categories:

  • Marketing & Membership Benefits – conduct membership survey and develop marketing plan for 2024-2025
  • Professional Development and Training – develop training proposal for the following 12-18 months
  • Regional or State Chapters – continue developing C2ER’s network for regional or state economic development researchers
